Kristina’s dream kitchen was years in the making. After spending more than a year visiting nearly every kitchen and bath store in Pittsburgh, she put her trust in Caruso Cabinet to bring her vision to life. Kristina wanted perfection and full customization, and our team made sure no detail was overlooked.

This project began in January 2023 and finished in September, making it one of the most detailed remodels we’ve ever completed. From the largest island possible to flush finishes throughout, Kristina’s kitchen is truly a masterpiece.

Custom Details and Unique Features

Kristina wanted the biggest island that would fit without a seam in the quartzite. We worked backwards from her Taj Mahal quartzite slab, ensuring the island size matched her vision while keeping the beauty of a seamless top.

A highlight of the kitchen is the six-foot hood, crafted by Icon Kitchens in Mississauga, ON, Canada. Kristina wanted her kitchen to echo her cousin’s in Canada, right down to the details. The hood was shipped raw to our shop and custom-finished to match the cabinetry perfectly, making it both a functional statement and a personal connection.

A hidden pocket door coffee station was also integrated to keep small appliances tucked away. Kristina’s priority was a clutter-free design, and our custom cabinetry delivered.

Kitchen Layout and Features

This luxury kitchen was designed in four sections:

1. Refrigerator Wall – Two 30-inch paneled Signature Suite refrigerator and freezer columns, a pocket door coffee station, two pantry cabinets with roll trays, and push-to-open uppers.
2. Range Section – A Thermador 36-inch range, the custom hood, and wood columns accented with sconces.
3. Morning Room – A built-in pantry, microwave storage, and an integrated window seat with drawers.
4. Island – A massive centerpiece with seating for five, a single sink, trash pull-out, paneled dishwasher, and additional under-counter storage.

Design Choices

• Perimeter Cabinets: Frosty White Westminster door style
• Island: Rift-cut white oak with a Portabella stain in the Westminster door style
• Countertops: Taj Mahal quartzite, Kristina’s first choice and the anchor of the design

Finishing Touches

• Flush fillers, toe kicks, and moldings for a clean built-in look
• 8-inch custom crown molding for height and elegance
• Push-to-open cabinetry for a sleek, hardware-free finish
• Polished nickel sconces, pulls, and knobs for sophistication
