Teresa’s Hickory Kitchen Remodel in Irwin, PA
Teresa’s kitchen remodel in Irwin, PA is a special project for our team at Caruso Cabinet. Teresa is actually a repeat customer who loved the kitchen we built in her previous home so much that when she moved, she came back to us to do it again.
With this home offering a larger kitchen footprint and higher ceilings, we were able to take the design even further. One of the biggest improvements was bringing the cabinetry all the way to the ceiling, which instantly made the room feel taller, cleaner, and more finished.
The layout centers around a spacious U-shaped kitchen with an island that provides seating for two, creating a comfortable space for both everyday meals and entertaining. We also relocated Teresa’s kitchen TV so it was no longer sitting on the countertop, giving the space a much cleaner appearance.
One of the most unique elements in this kitchen is the custom corner cabinet designed to hide the TV in plain sight. We built oversized 30” x 30” wall corner cabinets, allowing a 24-inch television to sit perfectly on a diagonal inside the cabinet. Above it, we added a crossbuck wine rack to complete the look. On the opposite side of the kitchen, the design is mirrored with another large corner cabinet featuring a glass door to display Teresa’s china.
Storage and functionality were just as important as the visual design. The kitchen includes large lazy susans in both corner cabinets, roll trays, baking sheet storage, utensil pull-outs, and custom drawer dividers. Combined with generous counter space throughout the U-shaped layout and island, Teresa now has a kitchen designed to make cooking and entertaining easy.
The cabinetry features our Franklin door style in hickory finished in Driftwood stain with an Onyx glaze, giving the kitchen a warm, natural look with beautiful wood grain. Countertops are MSI Calacatta Cinela quartz with an ogee bullnose edge, fabricated by Excel Glass and Granite. The finishing touches include Sullivan pulls by Jeffrey Alexander in brushed pewter, a Pfister Port Haven faucet, and a Karran workstation sink.
Another special moment during the project was Teresa reconnecting with installer Tim, who actually installed the kitchen in her previous home. She specifically requested him again for this project, which made the experience even more meaningful.
Today Teresa says she absolutely loves her new kitchen and often receives compliments from friends who visit her home. With its thoughtful layout, ceiling-height cabinetry, and custom storage features, this kitchen truly makes the most of the space.
